Fort Lauderdale Real Estate
Fort Lauderdale is known as the "Venice of America" because of all the waterways that flow through and around the city. There are waterfront properties even in neighborhoods well away from the coastline. Even those that are not right on the water are truly amazing and prices range from the very affordable up to as outlandish a price as you wish.
The Greater Fort Lauderdale Area includes such terrific communities as Fort Lauderdale itself, Lauderdale by the Sea, Oakland Parks, Wilton Manners, and Lauderdale Lakes. The residents are as friendly as they are varied with a rich mix of ethnicity, culture, and taste. Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Lauderdale Lakes both have a tourist-attraction atmosphere with lots of popular attractions nearby and many hotels and resorts. There is always a lot going on in these neighborhoods, with all the sports, beachfront dining, and shopping opportunities. Oakland Parks is more laid back, although located in the heart of everything. Short car rides can get residents to the beach if they like, or whatever activity interests them. However, the neighborhood is removed enough from the main attractions that residents can enjoy their privacy, too. Wilton Manners is like Oakland Parks in that there is a certain distance from the main activity centers. Even with that, life here never gets boring.
Even communities well removed from the main tourist centers are bustling with activity. In the northwest region, communities such as Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, Tamarac, and Sunrise have wonderful schools with school-related activities happening almost every weekend. In addition, there are lots of parks and recreation areas such as golf courses and tennis courts to keep people busy as well as healthy. Sawgrass Mills is located in this region, providing 2.2 million square feet of shopping paradise. Still only twenty minutes from the excellent beaches of south Florida, residents of this area overwhelmingly agree-they would not want to live anywhere else.
For those contemplating a move to the Greater Fort Lauderdale area, not checking into this part of town would be a terrible mistake, whether you are looking for rental property, a condominium, or even an estate home. Take it from all those who have chosen to make it their home, it does not get any better.
